Racecourse Prague-Velka Chuchle

CZECH DERBY

This popular, sport and social event takes place at the Prague-Velká Chuchle racecourse in the last decade of June yearly. It is the most important "classic" race for three years old horses, absolute highlight of the czech season calendar.

The triumph writes down the name of the horse into the history and gives him the best ticket for the breeding. It is also the best possible success for the jockeys, trainers, owners and breeders. Czech Derby creates together with Velká jarní cena and St Leger the Classic Triplecrown. In the past, only seven horses (1947 Panoš, 1954 Symbol, 1956 Blyskač, 1988 jediná klisna Arva, 1996 Glowing, 2001 Tribal Instinct and 2009 Age of Jape) achieved victories of all races of this special series. The prize-money of the Czech Derby is 2,500.000 CZK (cca 100.000 EUR), so that Czech Derby is the richest flat race in the Central Europe.
