Pace Man won the May Stakes

The highlight of the successful premiere of the special Ladies Day at Chuchle Arena Prague was the 73rd Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Prague May Stakes (Class A, 1m, 150 ths. CZK), a traditional spring race for top older mile-distance horses. After a captivating duel in the final furlong, the 6yo gelding Pace Man with jockey Jiří Chaloupka achieved wire-to-wire win.

Last year's three-time Class B winner Pace Man was the favorite, after finishing closely second in the April Stakes a month ago. He is really "pace man" and won wire-to-wire, by a short head of another 6yo grey horse, winner of Jaroslav Mašek memorial Stakes Politicum. The winner of last year's EJC Middle Australien placed third, four lenghts away. Jockey Jiří Chaloupka won this race already for the fifth time, (owner) Stall KSK and trainer Jana Manová won for the first time not only in this race, but also on the Class A level. Jana Manová, who started her career only this year, also became the first winning woman trainer in all history of this race. The Swiss-bred Pace Man won in a quality time 1:37,75.

Martina Havelková, a jockey and trainer from Chuchle Arena, won two other races of the day (reached the 22nd double in her riding career) and has moved to the top of the current standings of the Lázně Poděbrady Cup – Czech jockeys' championship.
