Thrilling finish of the Renomia St Leger for Gasparini

On the first Sunday of September, the gates of Chuchle Arena Prague opened for the first time after the summer break to welcome a large number of visitors to the ninth part of this year's metropolitan season. In the sports offer, which was complemented by a rich accompanying program for children, two great Class A races were watched with great interest and both lived up to, perhaps exceeded, considerable expectations.

The final and longest of the five classic tests of the season, the 77th Renomia St Leger (1m 6f, 600 ths CZK, 3yo c+f) offered a thrilling finish of four horses and finally winner of Slovak Derby, Czech bred colt Gasparini won by two short heads and half lenght of fillies Totally Gold and Vignetta (the second and first in August Czech Oaks) and Hello Hola Hay, winner of Swiss Derby. Jockey Jiří Palík won the Czech St Leger for the second time, in total he has already registered fourteen classic wins in six different countries in his career. The trainer Jan Demele and the owner and breeder of Gasparini in one person Petr Karlík (stable TIPPLER Group) achieved the first Czech classic win, overall, after the success in the Slovak Derby, the second classic in their careers.

The 44th CK Martin Tour Prague Stakes (1m, 600 ths CZK, 3yo and up) fully lived up to its reputation as one of the highest-quality Czech race. Ten-years-old gelding Ideal Approach won in an emotional atmosphere and became the oldest winner of the history of this race. He achieved the sixteenth lifetime win and  like him, also jockey Martin Laube, trainer Luboš Urbánek and owner Karel Jalový (Lokotrans stable) won this race for the first time. The holder of the June Tattersalls Mile Politicum finished second by a length, Czech Oaks 2020 winner Zariyanka placed third by another two lenghts.

Jockey Milan Zatloukal won two other races of the day and achieved his forty-eighth career double.
