Jir Sun won the Tipsport Gomba handicap, double for Lokotrans stable

Although in freezing weather, this year's racing season started on Sunday, April 3, at the Chuchle Arena Prague. The traditional highlight of the premiere raceday was the 95th Tipsport Gomba handicap (Class A, 6f, 4yo+), which took place with nine horses from three countries.

The favorites of the race were Worth Choice (last year's two-time Class A winner in Prague) Jir Sun, who in June 2021 won the biggest sprint race in Slovakia. And while the first one unexpectedly closed the race, Jir Sun (j. Laube, tr. Urbanek, own. Lokotrans) won by three quarters of the lenght and reached the fifth lifetime win. The Lokotrans team achieved a double in this race, because in next close battle of three low-weighted horses, Matello finished by neck and nose second, ahead Manolla and Corston, with Slovak guest Gentleman Jack placed the fifth. The whole winning team won this race for the first time in history.

Trainer Allan Petrlík and Zdeněk Jandejsek, the owner of the Rabbit Trhový Štěpánov stable, were happy with the two wins in other races of the day.
